In order to understand the importance of forgiveness, middle school students do an exercise that helps the development of core values in this video from The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values. To make the concept concrete, students label a rock that represents a situation or person they want to forgive. After carrying the rocks in a backpack, they experience the healing power of forgiveness by discarding their burdens.
