    Learn about trial by jury—an underlying principle of English and American law—in this scene from the 2017 drama series MASTERPIECE: Victoria. The queen, who has just survived an assassination attempt, refuses to bow to fear. She insists that she will uphold the jury’s decision that the assailant, deemed “not of sound mind,” should be sent to a hospital rather than jailed or executed.
